Ya Im not sure how you miss that. Well I did but that laying on the ground and looking through the grate. As far as I was concerned I tugged on the shaft best I could and did not see anything unusual. So it appears no neoprene seal at the wear ring but there are 3 rubber grommets the go between the main housing and chasis then the 2 orings on the spout that goes to the rear housing. Did I read correctly that the grommets are unavailable? 3 total If Im correct. And Since there no ring to remove other than the lip seal could I install the new one with out taking the impeller out?

As long as you can get the fiberglass support out then yes, no reason to remove the impeller.

Am I correct the white inner ring is the fiberglass support? If so that might be a interesting task. I have the spline tool so if I need to pull the impeller then that would be easier. Am I correct on the grommets? Not available?

Ok going to order a wear ring. Does anybody like one over the other. I picked up a kit off ebay for the GTI LE and it seemed to be fine but I thought I would if anybody has some input.

I prefer the OEM others like the aftermarket.

I think OSD sells the grommets.

Get a neoprene seal.

The seal was the question I have. It appears the there was a lip on what Ill assume was the original ring or whats left of it. From what Im see on the web most rings are just tube from end to end. In this case Im not to picky about brand just want to make sure I have everything to go back together. I dont think there was a neoprene seal like my 03 RFI LE had. . Im going back out to the shop and look.

1997 I confirmed no seal on this ski. I do not know the history of the ski. The kid I got from said he put oil in the pump. Ill say this the leading edge of the impeller has some nicks but for the most part it appears to be recently replaced and when I spin it it feels good. I might be over thinking things as I look at it and if you look at the second image you can see clear white plastic which I assume is the back side of the original ring. The closer I look maybe Im thinking theres not a lip but just a ridge if you will where the neoprene seal would rest and or fit.

If it is a 1997 787 then you need to use the neoprene seal even if it isn't shown on the diagram. The only ones that don't use it are the old silicone in pumps and the 155mm pumps.

Thats what I was thinking. I looked at diagrams and found what you where saying its not pictured in them. I do have all the grommets and they look good so Im good there. Ill order a ring a seal and it appear Ill need take the impeller off the cut out what left of the wear ring. Thanks for the help much appreciated!!!

Back for one more?? Im about to run to run down the street to borrow a vice and remove the impeller. I noticed that it spins nicely and if I apply pressure a I can get it to compress again the spring inside the cone? Fast forward I just knocked the cone off to drain and I have about a 1/8 maybe more in and out free play? Ill know more in a few minutes but is this normal? I have only done one pump before so just curious or am I going to find the thrust bearing missing or washer. Ill be back.

Yes the play is normal and why the seadoo’s rattle.

Make sure you don’t pinch the thrust washer when putting it back together.

Under stood on the washer. I did some reading and found a pretty good write up. all the parts are there so its back to the water and test run here shortly.
