Whats the difference between 657x and 657

Electronics...?

The electronics from the two motors are probably equal, they both use the CDI with the same amp charging system. The biggest difference between the two motors is the pistons and ports. Some of the parts will fit the 657 but others may need small changes to work.

The carbs on the two are both BN 38's but the jets are different, so you'd have to rejet them.

The rotary valve is also different. The 657 uses the 147* and the X model, the 158*.

The 657 has a horsepower rating of 27 and the X model is 31. Now, that's horsepower at the pump nozzle, where it matters the most.

Thanks for your quick response!!!

Sorry I meant the electrical including MPEM. So just to confirm Rejet the carbs and adjust Rotary valve timing should get me started?

Not sure...

Not sure now, since just reading your thread on the differences between the 657 and the 717. If you are using the rotary of the 657 in the 717, then you have another problem.......

What you need to do is start with what you have in the ski, everything, ...then we can help you try to match up what you are wanting to do because in the last 10 minutes, I've just read where you are crossing between 3 engines, not two.....
