I have a 2005 speedster 200 , I’ve read on the forums 2005-2007 had the exhaust valves that failed . I also saw that the boat had a year older engine , so that means maybe I have a 2004 engine and might be safe . Is there anyway to check my hin # or engine block # to see? Should I be concerned? Did a lot of our boats have failures ? Thanks

Last 2 digits of HIN are the year of the boat. The motors typically run a year behind like you already stated. Not sure there are any identifiers on the engine. Maybe via the serial on the motor.

Safe to say your motor is an '04

The manufacture date of the motor will be on the front plate but the valves from 2002 to 2007 were all the same.

Boats have had very few valve failures in general. They are just not pushed like the PWCs are. The biggest reason for valve failure is high rpms with rusty valves that can micro crack. The 215s fail much more than your motor. It isn't something I would worry about if you have a freshwater boat and do regular maintenance.

My boat is a 2005 speedster 200 , fresh water it’s whole life until now , I don’t know if chargers were done either. It sucks to have to spend almost a 1000 for rebuild if it’s been done already . There’s no way to know right? Unless you take off and look at washers
