So originally it was the debate between a PWC or a boat.. I recently purchased a 2010 SeaDoo Speedster 150 and figured why not look into getting a PWC as well.. I figure why not have the best of both worlds.. Anyway I didnt want to spend much on the pwc being it will be rarely used but i also didnt want to buy someone elses headaches.. I put a limit at 2k - 2500... Was doing some looking around and see there is a dealership that for some reason still has a 1996 Yamaha Waverunner 3 in stock.. BRAND NEW... I emailed to make sure it wasnt a misprint or anythign like that and the guy didnt get into details but just said it was brand new, never titled, never even in water for a test drive or anything... Their asking price is 3500 which I feel like I can get them down from I mean its a 96.. I am sure if they havnt sold it by now there has to be some kind of contest among the salesmen to see who can sell it lol.. I mean we are talking about 14 years have gone by and they cant get rid of it.. So my thinking is to go in there with cash in hand but I dont know what to offer.. i mean i wish i could get a newer looking pwc but hell for a brand new one that shouldnt have any problems and to pay less i think is worth it.. plus im sure it has to come with some kind of warranty.. maybe i can get them to throw in an extended warranty also lol.. so my question to you guys is what should i offer for the pwc and/or what price should i not pay above?? Also does anyone have any insight on the yamaha waverunner 3?? I tried doing a search and it looks like it only has about 55hp.. anyone know what kind of top speed something like that would give?? dealer shows specs of 250hp but im thinking its a typo or something.. thanks for any help..

i would low ball them. The day you put it in the water, it is a used 16 year old waverunner. What do used ones go for? Also, how bout things in it that are rubber, anything dry rotted? I would make sure it has a warranty.

Yup. they may not go for it... but I would offer them book price, plus 10% since it's new. It should come with a factory warranty.

Even though it's never been used... all the rubber parts will be drying out, and there is a good chance that after the first couple trips out... things will need to be replaced.

In some ways, a low hour ski is worse than a high hour.

Hmm.. good points.. I'll have to call and ask them if the warranty will cover all of those items and like I said earlier maybe pay a little extra and have them give an extended warranty if it will cover items liek that... if i have it right i believe book is like 1200 or someting like that... I am also thinking of holding out.. i mean since i really dont "need" the pwc now being i have the boat im thinking that if i hold out till just before winter they might lower the price even more and ill have a lot more negotiating room or maybe ill also have more money saved up and can throw it down on a newer pwc..

Yea i didnt even think about that.. as stated in the above post the book on the ski is 1180.. That would be a good bargaining tool in that the second i roll off the lot if i want to get rid of it the price just dropped half of what they are asking... anyone know what this ski cost back in 96?? just curious how far they dropped the price already.. and how the hell do you get stuck with a ski this old lol.. im still lost on how that worked out..

well back to the drawing board lol.. in a matter of a few days the managed to sell it.. i mean come on.. do i have bad luck or what lol... now its back to searching for a nice used one i guess since i doubt ill find a new one anywhere near that price lol..
