Okay, I joined this forum to get opinions, and boy do I need them!

I have this 2004 GTX 4Tec Super Charged. I'ved had it since new. Theres about 148 hours on it. It's not been used much for the past 6 years. About 4 years ago, I had it serviced, then did not use it. It was stored inside.

Outside, it needs a lot of replacement and clean up. Inside, it's pretty clean. I drained what was mostly water.

Today, I bought a battery, hooked it up, plugged in the key, and it made all the right sounds.

Now to the point! I what opinions of where to go with this before starting it.

I plan to pump out the oil to see how much comes out, replaced the oil and filter, treat the gasoline, then give it a try. Am I missing anything?

I would remove the old fuel and replace with new fuel. Take a good look at the oil, if it looks good, I'd use it for initial start up. Pull the plugs and crank the engine a bit, see if anything that should not be in there comes out (oil, water, antifreeze ect ect).

Replace the spark plugs.

If it does start as it should, I would go for a min run with it and then check and change the oil and filter.

You do not need to put it on the hose to start it. On or off the hose you should run it only for a minute as the Carbon Seal is not cooled unless the boat is in the water.

The 4-tec is a pretty impressive engine, I bet it fires right up..

Does it have a Super Charger?

2003 to mid 2006 has Soduim Filled Exhaust valves, (Boat engines are off a year, so it would be 2004 to mid 2007). These are known to fail. Especially in Salt Water used engines and Super Charged engines. They can be replaced with Solid Core valves.
