Well I plan on buying a used Jet Ski in the next week. It is between a 1998 Sea Doo GTI ( Don't know Specs ) or a 2000 kawasaki 900 stx. Price is around $1,700 for the sea doo and $2,250 for the kawasaki. I just joined and don't know much but was wondering if you guys could give me some tips what to look out for and you opiion on both! Thanks!

check out this thread, same issues would apply.

check engine compression, run in it the water at least 15 minutes, see how well it runs, does it start right up, does it bog down at full throttle, does it have any cavitation (high rpms without going anywhere), check for engine leaks, look underneath for gouges in the hull, does it have gray fuel lines, ask what oil he runs in it.

The 98 GTI has a 717 Rotax engine, 85 HP. Compression should be 150 psi, less than 125 would need a topend rebuild. Personally, if I was going with a Seadoo, I would go with one with a 787 engine that produces 110 HP.

why not, there isn't any ice on the water :)

at least hook it to the hose and run it for a few minutes
