Hello everyone...looking for some info from some of the experts here. Picked up a 2004 GTX 4tec supercharged ski this year. Having a cavitation problem and did a search on this site and found what to look for.

Wear ring is bad and so is the impeller. Seeing as I've got to get a new impeller, should I replace it with the stock 12/20 or should I go to a different pitch?

I do plan on putting in a new grate and wedge kit. If a different impeller will give me better hole shot and top end, then I might as well go for it.

Thanx in advance for your input.

Well certainly going to replace the ring...think I should also replace the impeller?

I've got a 04 GTX LMT SC and had a bad wear ring when I got it last year as well. Off a dead start I'd get cav to about 20 mph. Replaced impeller while I had it apart with a Solas Concord 12/20...a very simple task if you are remotely mechanical (search hear for steps) Understand that I am a former football player that weighs 335lbs. Still have the stock grate and this B*tch wants to jump right out of water. Tops out on the speedo at 66 on dead flat calm.
Dont think I'm gonna change a thing....

Why don't you get the impeller repaired? Unless you want an aftermarket one, get it fixed.

I decided to go with a Solas 12/20, Aquivein Grate and 2.5 deg. pump wedge. This should make a bit of difference.

As far as taking it all apart...surely you can tell by the pics that the pump is already off. I did a TON of research on this site and found all the info I need to take off the pump and replace the ring and impeller. Lots of great info on this site. I also bought a service manual DVD on ebay for $12.oo. That have lots of info in it but this site has all the shortcuts.
