........make a choice!

Gary, you'll have to make a choice. First, you don't say what year your PWC is, so I can't look up what your choices are. But I can tell you this.

Pitch is divided into two numbers on an impeller. For example 22/12. In reading this, you'll see the first number is the degree of the blade at the hub. The second number is the degree of the blade at the outer edge.

To answer your question, if you want a new impeller, to pull toys, then you want a bottom end impeller. You can do this, but you'll give up a bit of speed in top end. Or, you can choose an impeller that will give you a couple more miles per hour, but you'll lose the jump at the hole shop.

The only way to get both, is to "mod" the engine. You can choose mods by kits, like Riva's mod stage 1, 2 or 3. They come with everything you need to do to make the change. When buying it in kits, you are sure not to leave anything out. For instance, if you go with an after market exhaust system and flame arrestor, you may forget or not know, that you also have to increase the jet size of your carbs..........so, RIVA eleminates this by putting it together in a kit. There are others out there beside RIVA though. So, if you want to mod, do some google searching and see what you can put together.........

Hi,
I always wondered what the numbers meant too, thanks Seadoosnipe, now, what does a higher/lower pitch at the hub do for performance, likewise what does a higher or lower pitch at the tip do for performance?
Also, this is for Seadoosnipe, any chance you could chime in on my question "Wear Ring" also on this discussion chapter?
Thanks,
Henry
