I think I know this is part of the fuel bafflle but am I correct? What does this line do? Where does it start and end?

The reason I have all these questions is I'm troubleshooting my jetski as it cranks but doesn't turn over anymore and I happened to notice this clear plastic line has ALOT of crap inside of it. Especially in the first picture gathered at the end.

The first picture is looking towards the back of the jetski

The second picture is following the line as it goes behind the "block"

EDIT: It appears as though it might be part of the cooling system. Why would I have crap inside? (I didn't disconnect the hose to see what's inside yet)

difficult to say from the pictures it appears, at least to me, from the size to be a cooling line.. theyre attached to various locations (usually 2-3) on the exhaust and the head areas to verify cooling water flow and then out ports in the rear or side of the ski. just havent seen one down low like that before

IF it is a water line, keep in mind that just because theyre not crystal clear doesnt mean theyre clogged..they fade and get dirty on the outside..anything inside them isnt necessarily bad but just deposits from the exhaust or water jacket around the cylinders, sand, particles taken in etc. You can blow them out then when the ski is running in the water or on a hose, make sure you have water a decent flow of water out of the exterior ports to ensure you're cooling the engine. Keep in mind this is IF its a water line... appears to be unless someone else thinks otherwise

Also...if there's 'alot' of crap in it like you said, make sure your engine turns and isnt seized. At first it appeared to be condensation in the pic but... Attach a pipe wrench or vise grips to the drive and turn it counter clockwise to make sure it turns freely.. if those are solid pieces in your picture that appear to be aluminum in color id be nervous to think that there could be internal damage (worst case scenario) and its spitting out some of the pieces

In the tube towards the end it does look like little metal shavings/pieces when I held a flash light to the hose. I wont know for sure what it is until I take the hose off later today.

I think it is a part of the cooling system. Needs flushed out badly
Thanks. Can I just pick up a flush kit on ebay for this?

Flush kit???, just replace the hoses from autozone/pepboys. You can get "flush kit" from Seadoo dealer/any watercraft dealer, goes inline of reutrn hose off head, but can make one from parts at homedepot/..T-fitting, 3in. hose, and female-hose connector piece....

:agree: with Timmy. And add that there is a bit of merit to the idea of using some aluminum friendly radiator flush, and allowing it to soak in the cooling system, to loosen any corrosion.

I will confirm they are aluminum shavings later tonight when I disconnect the hose. The only area they could be coming from is the internal engine area right?

Hose

That hose goes to the bottom of your exhaust manifold. The purpose of this hose is to let water drain out of the engine after it is shut off. It's not uncommon to see this hose completely blocked off by sand, etc.
Remove the hose and clear the debris out of it.
I can't explain the aluminum looking stuff inside but I doubt it suggest a internal engine problem.
Good Luck, DAWG

Just maybe it is NOT aluminum, but scale, from lake/sea water.

But, with that visable, I'd remove all the cooling lines, and clean them out, and flush out the exhaust system.

No harm. As long as you get it back together right!
