What is this hose for?

I just lifted my boat out for the week and noticed that some nasty little critter has been chewing on a rubber hose near the outside part of the jet pump!

If I had my Mercury service manual handy, I should look it up... But of course I don't... So can anybody identify this hose and let me know what size I need to get as a replacement?

That's your bilge siphon. Basically... the water going past the little tube in the nozzle will create a suction... and in turn... suck the water out of the bilge. If you look in the hull... there should be a gray hose, with a strainer on the end... and it's just dangling in the bilge close to the engine.

If it's working properly... you may never need to turn on the bilge pump. (so fix the hose.)

OMG, now it all makes sense!!! I've noticed that has not been working, I've checked that grey hose a couple of times!!! Go figure!!!

I took the small piece as a sample radius size and measured it needs to be exactly 12" long. I hope I can find this size at a hardware store or maybe a marina!!!

Thanks again!
