What is good and bad when running engine?

I ran my '05 RXP for about two hours today. I ran it anywhere from idling through the marina, to 0-60 full throttle, to sustained 40mph runs for 10 minutes or so. After about an hour, I could feel that the seat was a little warm. An hour and a half after coming in, the engine is still warm to the touch. I've never gotten a Hi-Temp warning or any other type of warning for that matter.

Are these like a car where it's okay to cruise at half-speed for hours? The top speed of my ski is around 70 mph, but I normally cruise at around 35-40 mph. I also like to explore channels in the lake, so I do a lot of idling through no-wake zones. I also open it up to 50-60 for a minute or two.

When idling, I'm at 1800 RPM. When I cruise at 35-40 mph I'm at 4000 RPM. If I hit the throttle wide-open from idle it can go up to 6000-7000 RPMs. Is this normal?

Since I'm new to PWCs, I need any advice you can give me on do's and dont's when riding. I don't know how any of my readings compare to what other people get. After reading this forum for a few days I've gotten paranoid that every shake or shimmy is going to mean $$ in repairs.

Don't be paranoid...

What you describing is normal for the most part. You have to remember that most members don't come to the seadoo forum to just explain about having good fun on the water...usually they are looking for a way to resolve a problem. I always try to have people come back and tell us about the good times too...but the forum seems to be a trouble shooting area most of the time. You should just try to keep an open mind on what you might run over in the water but for the most just go and have fun. I try to enjoy my water craft as much as possible while being observant of any problems that might arise, but I'm not paranoid when out having fun. Go and enjoy. We'll be here if you have a problem or concern.:)
