Yesterday we were out on the Columbia river and the river was high and full of obstacles, logs, branches, grass, etc. We are pretty new at this and have never had a problem before. But yesterday when we were cruising all of a sudden my GTX started shaking and sputtering. We went to the shore and shut it off thinking I had fouled my impeller with some of the junk in the river. When my husband started it up and took off it ran fine. So my question is, do you think I did suck something into the impeller? Could it come out by shutting it off and restarting? What should we do in the future if we do foul the impeller? So many questions from this newbie! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

welcome sandbrat. Check inside the pump assy, look'n at the impellor. Theres a "ring" that goes around the impellor, that fits stug into the housing. Check that, make sure it aint all tore up and impellor dont have any bent blades/nicks. If now, the clearance is more than .040 between the impellor blade and "wear ring" then you'll need to replace it.

yep do what he said. use a flashlight and look right into the jet in the back of the ski. look where the impeller meets the wall and that is the wear ring. if the impeller and wear ring are in good shape still, ride on no worries.

if something gets sucked in again, i would take it out of the water asap and look at the intake grate and the impeller again. just make sure nothing is hung up in there. the longer that stuff is stuck, the more damage it will do.
