this is a pic of behind the console on my '97 challenger 1800. any one know what the round thing in the middle is? it goes thru the fiberglass to under the console. I just got the boat recently and dont have a users manual yet.
Also, the 2 cables that are attached to the steering cam underneath the steering cable.. what are they for? they seem to be extremely loose.
theres also a connector that doesnt connect to anything (bottom middle of pic) can I assume that this is just an extra power source?
thanks for any help.

ok i read another post and it mentioned 2 short beeps from the dss. so I imagine that round thing in the middle is the horn for those beeps from the dss and the engine overheat also.

Yes the round thing is a beeper. It will beep 2 times when the dess,(Digital Electronic Security System.) lanyard is connected. Also it will beep if you oil level is too low or the engine over heats. The 2 cables under the steering is for when your at the dock and turn the steering to either extreme...left or right. What that does is give you more throttle so it is quicker to turn. Turn it next time in the water to see how it works. It works really good after you get used to it.

You need to run the seadoo in the water and turn to the extremes...(Left/ Right). If it revs up to early it's too tight if it never revs up they are too loose. The play is adjusted at the cables by the steering, but you need to run it and adjust it from there. There should be play in the adjustment.
