Hey guys, thought I'd post some pics of my new Wet Sounds stereo system. I tried to find other 180SP's with upgraded stereos but they're not many on the net to be found. Heck, there aren't alot of 180's with upgrades stereos.

All Wet Sounds Gear:
(4) XS-650RGB Speakers
(2) ICON8 Tower Speakers
(1)XS-10FA Subwoofer
(1) HT6 Amplifier
(1) HT2 Amplifier
RGB LED Rings for all speakers with RGB controller
Stock headunit

great install and nice choice of speakers. I did a write up on the install i did on my 180sp, but i went with JL. did you do the install yourself? how do you like those tower speakers?

Thanks guys, the sound is pretty good, but that's all relative. I've had 33 cars and put stereo systems in almost all of them. I'm a big SQ guy, but marine audio is new to me. Mobile Sound Systems in Arlington, Texas does all of my installs.

Comments - I wish there were room for an enclosed sub, but there wasnt. I went with the free air but it doesnt sound as nice as I'd like it too. For a marine stereo system, I think this thing is about as good as it gets. I havent had it on the lake yet but I'm sure it will be plenty loud for my family and friends.

I 100% agree with the subs needing an enclosure. I choose to mount 2 10"s instead of 1 for this reason. Unfortunately, I wish I could find room for 2 more 10"s.
The original 2 sounded good with 4 mids & highs running off a small amp, but once I upgraded to 8 mids & highs w/ a bigger amp I don't have enough bass anymore.
But, I have designed & install systems in everything I have ever owned (atv & motorcycle included) and I find myself content for a while, but never end up completely satisfied with anything since my competition system back in the mid 90's. lol

I prefer the enclosure for the subs too but in my 98, there wasnt enough room. Thats why i chose the Kicker subs. They were rated as free air. They pounded pretty hard for no box. I almost went that route again but went with all polk this time. Im gonna try to make an enclosure to wiggle into the boat. If i cant get it, i might try without and see how they sound.

I heard some ported 5" (pretty sure they were 5" but could have been 6" but I don't think so, I know speakers pretty darn well) KRK brand home speakers this weekend.. HOLY CRAP.. the bass put out by two 5" ported sub/components... omfg.. amazing!!

So you don't need a 10" for bass, although it might really set it off.. :D

BUT, I do have to ask, how did you wire up the colored speaker rings? Did you just fish the wire back through the speaker cutout and up into the hull somehow, then back to the battery/amp area?? Just trying to think how to fish wire through the hull like that.. I might upgrade my stock speakers (I have 2 polk momo db marine speakers sitting here collecting dust from my last boat LOL) and I hope those are just an easy swap-in, but wiring up colored speaker rings is also on my list so I'd like to figure this out before I go and rip stuff apart... Any insight would be appreciated.. Thanks!

Get yourself an alectricians fish tape...makes it very easy...or just tie the new wires to the old speaker wires and pull from the radio end.

Cycleguy88 - I haven't taken it anywhere yet. I live in Keller and plan to split my time between Grapevine, Eagle Mountain and Lewisville.

I heard Grapevine has fireworks on Friday nights during the summer, any one know if this is true?

Any good places for us jet boats to hang out? My best friend has a Yamaha 212x and he spends most of his time at Party Cove at Lewsivlle, but I have 2 kids (7 and 11) and looking for a more family friendly environment. We plan to spend weekends doing some tubing and learning how to wake board. I'd also like to find a beach area where we can swim and eat. Any ideas?

i haven't been to grapevine in a while, so i'm not sure. I never go to lewisville cause it's always so crowded and I live too far South (Midlothian)

Nice setup. I run the same speakers in my 180 challenger. What made you run the sub on the drivers side? Also any plans fora new HU? I run an alpine and the imprint add on sound module. Plug the laptop into it and calibrate with a small mic like a home theatre system
