I've decided to put the boat up for sale. I'm not leaving though. Just gonna jump up to a 20 ft speedster. I've found some good deals on em used. I know right now it's still winter most places and prices are low, so I might take less than normal. But I figure if I mention here, people that really appreciate it might be interested. I plan on putting it in the classified section, but honestly I never look in there. I think that's one of the mistakes made around here. When classifieds switched formats the traffic in there went way down. It was better in the regular forum. I've got a ton of money, sweat and blood in this boat. I hate to see it go, but its not big enough anymore. I'd sell it to anyone here for $7500. Anyone sees a good deal on a 20 footer let me know.

I think you are doing the right thing. The 16.5' boats were only 4 people. (5 if you didn't get an SK)

Buy your new boat now... and then hold onto your boat until spring. Really... end of March is when you need to hold out till'. When the snow starts to melt... all the people who were thinking of a boat... will start to look in the VERY early spring.

As far as price.......... well.... $7500 may be high, but post it, and see what you get. $6500 is probably more in-line with the market. BUT... down in KY they may be worth more.

Anyway... good luck with the search.

How's the new kid??

Well I sold it. Had it on Craigslist a few week. Had some offers to trade stuff and a few low ballers. First guy who actually came to look at it in person bought it. 7700 and I kept the $150 jack off the trailer. Not too bad considering there is snow coming tonight. I goto TX next weekend to inspect my 2004 speedster 200 that's replacing it.

Congrats, that's a hot looking boat your picking up. I really love the look of it but wish it came in yellow. You did real good on the sale of your's, nice to know they can still command a good dollar. Here's a great vid, this thing is honkin'

Brian, i actually have some questions for you. First of all, let me know those tips to look for. I was kinda intimidated to buy the 430...so i went with a 310. Another reason was the price..i couldnt turn it down for 10,500. I have lots of questions on the audio system but ill work on those later.

Your getting that for 10500?? Thats sweet!! 310 is plenty stout. The 155s are awesome and you don't have the early supercharger issues to deal with. As in you don't have pieces of cermic washers circulating through your oiler system ... BONUS! You gotta tower too which is another bonus!! I like the look of the tower but its also cool to take it off once in awhile just to get different look.

How many hours are on this huar?

Obviously other than the engines its not that different than your old speedster or any other boat, when your checking it out try not to be too pumped and take a look at your wear rings and impeller condition. Obviously I know you know this stuff but its easy to get pumped and over look it. Check out the bottom of the hull and ride plates. Theres also two heat exhchangers on each side near the back make sure they aren't all dinged up. Engine bay should be really clean, have a look at the coolant level each bottle should be at the "MAX" line. When checking the oil, the oil level should be right between the two notches on the dipstick. With the dipstick off you can pull that plastic cowling piece off the top of the engine to get a better look at how the block is looking. Obviously your looking for leaks signs of repair etc.
When you get out for a test drive they should start right up no hoarsing around. After all the timing chain issues I've seen, I like to cruise with throttle at idle and jets in "F" for at least 5-10mins to make sure the engines are up to a decent temp before loading them to Wide Open (this is now a ritual habit I have). Your tachs should be synced within 300rpm of each other, and wide open in glass I would expect that boat to hit 58-60mph and very quickly. Check your steering lock to lock ... and by the way this thing will seem HUGE compared to the old boat but this thing will still play and play hard.

Sorry man I know my reply is kinda all over the place. I'll pm yah my cell then you can give me a shout or txt me if yah see anything with it that seems sketch.

Cheers man you and the fam will definately love this upgrade.

Thanks for the tips. Honestly im slightly intimidated by going 4 stroke, but with everyone here i know i can tackle most stuff. Its only got 90 hours on it. Yeah at 10,500 i jumped on it quick. Im gonna hit you up later with more questions. I really wanted your exact boat but couldnt find one within what i wanted to spend.

Great deal Foster! On both boats. I hope the owner of your old boat appreciated all the work you put into it! I can't wait to see what you do with the new boat!

The tower is amazing, especially for us 40-somethings. We don't wakeboard, the tower is for hanging towels, wet lifejackets. Kicker speakers and just grabbing onto when trying to walk from bow to stern without falling over! (smile)

Be sure to find a nice tow mirror to mount on your tower if you plan on tubing, boarding or skiing. I use it each and every time out.

Have fun! Let the mod madness begin!!

PS: I bought a new Alpine head unit for my boat with marine remote key fob. WOO WOO Spring mods and I have yet to put the sleds away.

Thats why i couldnt pass it up honestly. I'm upgrading for less than 3 grand...There are deals out there if you dont mind looking for them and traveling. There also people out there who appreciate all the work i put in mine. they are willing to pay a higher price to have all the nice mods already done. Of course I had a lot more in the 98 and it was finally set up just the way i wanted. Ill do pretty much all the same stuff to this one. I already have like 3 grand in mods planned...lol

congrats... and a great price.

I really wish I could have found an Islandia 310 for a reasonable price. When I was looking... all I found was +$20k. Well... hopefully my welds will hold on the old Merc engine.
