Weird Noise

So sunday on the lake, everything was great, both motors working fine doing 45mph no issue both motors running fine.

After about an hour on the lake the starboard engine started acting weird. No longer would it stay on at idle, it would fire right back up though. It seemed tough to get the RPMS up in comparison to the port engine. Ran for about another hour then docked it and turned off both motors for an hour. Got back in the boat and the starboard motor wouldn't fire up. So I had to cruise at about 5mph with the port engine back to the boat ramp. Tried to fire it again after we put it on the trailer, nothing.

Went outside tonight and it fired up pretty easily. Slow to rise in rpms still and won't stay running at idle. Here is the weird part is it is making like a metal clanking sound. I can't tell if its from the JetDrive or Motor. It makes the noise when revving the motor up, but when letting off the throttle and letting the rpms fall, it doesn't making the noise.

I just checked the compression on it 3 weeks ago and was 150/152.

Any ideas? Anyone else experienced this?

Re-check the compression, if the compression is good, remove the pump to determine if the problem is in the pump or the motor.

Just did the compression check.

THANKFULLY my motor is still good. Same results as 3 weeks ago *Phew*

I have attached a picture of the plugs. They are only 3 hours old. Should they look like this? The oil is like caked on. Going to clean them up and try running the boat here in but again to see if maybe the noise I was hearing was a misfire.

Your plugs are running just a tad too cold, if you are running NGK BR8ES try turning the LS needles in just a touch, 1/8-1/4", if you happen to be running BR7ES change to BR8ES. You are running just a little rich.

Cleaned up the plugs, fired her up today. Started on the 2nd crank. Idles perfect once again. The metal sound is pretty much gone but I can hear it every second or two. I was told once by a PWC SeaDoo owner once to keep extra sparkplugs, wrench/socket to change them handy on the watercraft. Said it saved his ass several times already in the past 10 years.

I'm going to do some preventative maintenance and fully rebuild the pumps since the metal sound is still there and who knows what the previous owner did.

1. 2 SBT Rebuild Kits (Do these come with the neoprene ring?)
2. 2 SBT Re-Man Impellers
3. 2 SBT Wear Rings
4. Fresh Oil

Am I missing anything there?

It looks good except for a couple of things, I would buy OEM wear rings instead of the SBT. And I don't think the neoprene rings come with the kit, you'll need to order them separately.
