Weedless Intake Grate

Please don't call me an idiot. I was getting ready to put my 1999 Sea Doo Challenger in the water. I noticed that the lever for the intake grate was pulled out. I tried to push it in but couldn't. Looked under the boat and both intake grates are broken off. I do not remember pulling them down but they are broken off and I am wondering what to do. I have been searching all over for 2 replacements. I can get a right hand one but the left one is not available anywhere.

Could I make some kind of grate that could be permanent.

If anyone has any ideas I sure would appreciated it.
