I purchased a 1997 seadoo gtx which hasnt been out into the water yet this year. I have read that waxing the hull can be a good thing so i am wanting to wax the hull before I get it out in the water this year.

What is the best way to wax the underside of the hull. can I tip the seadoo on its left side to wax the hull and then flip it on the right side to wax the rest of the hull. Can someone give me some advise as to if a hull waxing can be done this way. Keep in mind that the seadoo hasn't been in the water yet this year nor has it been filled up with gas yet.

It's a myth. Waxing the hull will not gain you any speed. If you sand the bottom with 100 grit sandpaper lengthwise, it will allow minuscule air bubbles to get underneath and reduce the hull adhesion to the water, thus increasing speed. Also you could true the rear half of the hull to gain a little speed.

thanks for the advice. My interest in waxing the hull is in providing it a little more protection, not attempting to make it go faster. I just didn't want to do anything stupid that could damage the hull or the engine.

If the bottom of your hull is still nice and shiny, then most waxes will be fine. I would find a sealant vs. a wax if it was my boat. Menzerna makes the best products out there. The nano waxes work well too.

If your hull is faded, then look for gel-gloss. You can find it at most Home depots. Will bring back some luster, more so if you own a high speed buffer. Know what your doing if you buff though, don't want to burn edges on anything!

Hope that gets you going.
