Waxing Compound marine vs regular

guys looking for the right wax for my 2004 GTX Seadoo, just purchased a used one and was neglected, and I like things looking good. I bought Meguiar's ultra compound wax, can't recall exact type? then after I purchased, days later I seen Marine wax, is there a difference? If so is it worth the money to get the correct stuff?

Not really a big difference. What is going to bring out the shine is polish, or if it's oxidized badly rubbing compound, then wax.

so I just bought something that says compound so will I need a wax? I would have to double check the bottle to see exactly what I got.

In order of abrasiveness: Red rubbing compound (most) white polishing compound (less). Then wax. Try to use white first and see if that gets you where you want it then use wax to protect it. There are "cleaner waxes" like Maguires that work well. My favorite is the 3 step/bottles of Maguires. Cleaner, polish then carnuba wax. Smooooth as a baby's butt.

I almost bought Meguiar's NXT tech wax 2.0, and got to the check out and found out it was $30. Wow, I will pass on that. I just clued in that compund is not a wax, so now I need to buy a wax, I was wondering why my car didn't look shiny! lol

I have used a number of the 3M marine compounds as I fell for the marketing on the label. They said they were meant for Gelcoat surfaces, or for removing bio buildups or marine growth etc.

Honestly, they all did exactly as they said and have not regretted the purchases. I used compounds to remove a scratch in the gelcoat, then followed it up with wax/polish.

Good luck!

I use all 3M stuff for boats and it workes great. I think the stuff for boats is better than anything else. The gel is a bit tougher than what just paint on cars.

figured i'd post here but, looking to bring back a little shine to my seadoo, already waxed it, was shiny for few weeks then sun and water wore it off, I'm thinking about buffering the ski, is this a good idea or is there something better, so that i don't ruin the paint of the ski etc....
