the guy i bought my jet ski from, told me that, if the jet ski flips, the engine will totally be destroyed.

now i thought flipping a pwc is a common thing, and i see people start it right back up, and take off.

is it just certain models? i have a '94 SP.

also i thought they were supposed to be waterproof...i was driving home, when it was raining, and when i check the engine, it was wet, so was the battery. is this bad, or does this always happen.

They are not water proof. The problem with flipping them upside down is if they stall, and you roll them over the wrong way the water goes into the engine and causes the engine to get flooded with water and it won't restart till the water is out. If the water stays in the engine it will corroded it internally and cause problems and an expense to get it running again. If you look on the seadoo there is a sticker with instructions that explain what direction to roll it over again and what to do when it rolls over.
The worse thing is getting water in the carbs or backed up the exhaust as it floods the engine. water just splashing around inside won't hurt it unless it gets inside the engine.
