Water running out while washing inside the boat

Just bought a Speedster and when washing the inside water started running out from the back.

I intentionally didn't open the plugs because I wanted to test the bilge pump. I would have thought it would be sealed up. If water is running out then water will run in!

I tried to take a picture of where the water is running out from but I'm not sure if it is clear enough. It's coming from what looks like some sort of valve with a ball in it.



We are planning on taking it to the Lake for it's maiden voyage but I'd hate to sink it!

That's a one way ball scupper valve. It won't let water in.

The Idea of the scupper valve is that the water pressure from outside the boat, when in the water, allows the ball to plug the tube so water won't back flow into the floor of the boat. Karl
