Going over my recently purchased 96 Challenger, I checked the water regulator valve. The cap holder spring was so tight I felt like I was going to bend or break it rotating it down.
Under the cap the spring was broken in half. Is this a common failure? Is this cap assembly normally this tight to pull off?
Looking in the service manual it looks like I should stay off the lake until I get the correct spring from the dealer. Bummer as I have all my repair parts coming in tomorrow to put the pump and driveline back together.
What kind of damage might I need to look for from the previous owner running it like this? I see the exhaust pipe has been off and painted silver (purple peeking through a couple of places) and a new exhaust hose from pipe to resonator. Looks like the symptom damages have been fixed before but not the source problem?
