Water Regulator on waterbox

I'm finding some good info on why my exhaust hose connection keeps melting, so making some headway here.

I took my water regulator off to inspect. I found the long small hose going back to the front of the tuned pipe completely melted and unhooked! So I'm going to fix that.

In the mean time, am I missing a connection on the below picture? Does anything go here?

As far as I can tell, no. This connection is closed in mine

Yup bigger female port is closed.

If you want pure reliability and and don't care about a little bit of lost RPM on top end you can Tee the 1/4 hose off from the 1/2" inlet hose and run one to the tuned pipe and one to water box and tap the barb fittings for mikuni main jets to control water flow (m5x0.75). That being said, I feel the water regulators are worth having working correctly.
