I've read up on many posts that say when you're running the motor out of the water to start the motor first and then turn the water on and then to turn the water off before you turn the motor off is there a reason for this? What damage can be done to the motor if you turn the hose on and then start the motor?

If you turn the water on first, you can fill the exhaust up and then allow water into the engine. It is the exhaust pressure that pushes the water through the exhaust.

Pull the spark plugs and crank the engine. Water will shoot out of the holes if that's the case. And if so, if the water has sat in there for any time you could be in trouble. It rusts the crank and destroys the crank.

If after you pump the water out it starts, you need to get to the ramp and run the ski on a ride for 30 minutes to get then kick hot and boil out the residual oil.
