Hey ya'll. Have a '97 GSX that I haven't had long. Took it out the other day and it progressively got a little slower and slower as if it were overheating. Opened the seat and there was a little water in the engine bay.

This happened to our 97 Yamaha and it was a hose that had worked its way lose from the engine that just needed to be reattached. I was hoping the problem with the GSX was the same and I just needed to reclamp a hose.

Any advice?

Welcome to the seadoo forum shipman515. I would check the cooling lines for any loose connections and maybe a pin hole in the exhaust plugs. they see to be a common problem of corrosion and allowing water to leak into the seadoo. Also check the jet pump too for any water entering around the impeller shaft boot.

there are several ways to go about checking.... the best is to put it on the hose and run it through some revs with the seat open so you can inspect. the added water pressure from the hose will show any leaks you have.

If you dont get any water doing this it is probably a rear carbon seal around the drive shaft. the easy way to check this and for any other leaks is to fill the hull up with water while on the trailer or stand. make sure you only fill below the carbs though. add the water inside and when doing this I usually dump some Dawn dish soap in too... just to help clean the inside of the hull. Let it stand and look for water coming out. Check the drive shaft, plugs, ride plate screws etc etc etc you will see where it is coming from.

Once you know where the water is coming from, use a scrub brush clean in the hull and pull the plugs, let all the water out and repair where the leak is.
