i was messing with the seadoo today (1996 GTX) and i left the water connected to it after i shut it down....it wouldnt crank and then i realized what happened so i took out the spark plugs and cranked it till it dried out. What do i need to do now to make sure this doesnt cause any problems. Im a bit pinched for time b/c its almost 9:00 here

Keep cranking until you are sure it is dry. Spray some WD40 in there and crank it some more....keep doing this until you are sure all the water is out. You could also put a little bit (a cap full or so) of 2 stoke oil in each cylinder and turn it over to spread the oil around and then try to start it it up. If it doesn't start you might need some new plugs. Act quick cause you don't want rust to start forming in the cylinders.

:agree: It's called beat the clock now...if you have any water in it and it won't start it will do damage...keep it turning over till all the water is out. Be sure to leave the spark plugs out and the plug caps on the grounding studs, when turning it over. When it seems like all the water is out put the plugs back in and get it started.

ok i did what he said and i got it started now, how long should i run it? should i change the crankcase oil (which i dont know how to do)? Should i do anything else or is it good?

Also i noticed that A LITTLE STREAM OF WATER WAS PISSING OUT FROM THE PURPLE EXHAUST PIPE PART RIGHT AFTER THE RUBBER CONNECTOR for awhile, what does this mean?

the water was squirting out before i realized it was locked up, it isnt anymore, but is it still a concern?

Should i change the jet pump oil? or does water not get in there?

No that is good...you don't need to change the pump oil. I am not sure what you mean by the water was squirting out? Squirting from where?

Don't run it for too long....only 5 mins on the hose. Just remember to turn the water on last and off first.

Everything should be fine...get it running for a bit and you will know right away if something is wrong. I am going to guess it is ok!

Matt

yea it ran fine, i ran it for like 20-25 mins on the hose and made sure it ran fine and didnt get too hot, that was ok to do for 25 mins right?

not good...

Not really, chief...bearings in the pump are cooled by water from the lake, but...ur ski was on the hose, meaning after about 5min, those bearings may/if not be bad now...:(

my buddy took it out today and said when he drove it it ran fine but only would get up to 35-40, but still hit 7000rpm, whats that about? bad bearing?

No not bad bearing. It could have a bad bearing but the bad bearing at 7000 rpms would not have a efect on your top speed. That ski should run 50 + mph at 7000 rpm's. Sounds as if you have a pump issue to me. Could be as simple as the pump to hull seal, carbon seal, bad wear ring or impeller. but I can allways be wrong so good luck. Robin

If you have allready replaced the wear ring then you have replaced the part that that is the most diffacult to replac. Wait for further replies and you will get the help with the easier to replace parts that may be your problem. Doooo you feel confident that you have a good seal between the pump and the hull as that would be the most likely problem to me, If this is a 3 seater ski used to pull a tube or wake board. I am no expert on this and I am only sharing info that has been shared with me so the info I give you came from others and we can all be wrong so good luck. Robin

well i already replaced the wear ring, so i guess ill have to take it in to someone?

What did you use to measure your speed? GPS? The speedos on these things aren't always that accurate. If the ski feels fine it could very well be going 50+mph but the speedo is giving off a different reading.

Matt

well i always use the spedo on the ski and it would usually go up to 48 with me and a person, now it seemed like it lagged. I dont know much about seadoos, i had a guy fix the wear ring and it ran great after that up until now.

so, prior to "flood'n" the motor, ski ran great? Do a compression test and repost ur findings. Did you replace the plugs, too?

i just took it out and it ran great, i got it up to 45 with me and a friend on it. but i herd something that sounded like a bad bearing, im gunna make a new post to address that
