Water entering Hull 2018 SeaDoo GTI (with Updated status reports)

I had the pump rebuilt on my 2018 GTI 155 at a certified Seadoo service. When I got it back it took on water immediately. It has never leaked before. My neighbor thinks that they may have broken the carbon seal while servicing the pump. Is that even possible??

Took on water from where? You might want to back the ski down the boat ramp, pull the seat; start the engine, use a flashlight, and determine where the water is coming in. If the water is coming in from the carbon seal, I'd take it back to the shop where you had the work performed and ask them what happened.

When the jet pump is out, the drive shaft is loose and it should be supported. Sure it possible; all some had to do was start the ski with the jet pump out; that would trash things quickly.

Update…. New service shop backed it down in the water. Said it started taking on water quickly from the syphon tube connections. He took the pump out and said the previous service center did not hook the tubes up. He also said the o-rings looked old and was surprised that they did not replace them when they rebuilt the pump. The interesting part is he said the short syphon tubes on top if the pump housing looked melted. I imagine that is from where the old shop couldn’t get the bolts loose and used a torch to try and loosen them. In the process they may have melted them. Fingers crossed new parts will fix it. I will update the post once they test it again.

Continued saga... I think we may have found the issue with the water leaking in. We are not sure until we get the new parts and test it. The dealership that did the work the first time installed a new venturi because they said the bolts were rusted on. The new venturi does not come with the short rubber intake tubes that stick out in the water. So why wouldn't they think to install the ones??!! Never the less, they did not and so we think without the siphon tubes, the water is not being vacuumed out of the bilge but rather going backwards into the hull. Parts arrive later this week. Hopefully we can get it in the water by the end of the week to test.

Not normal for a 2018 to have any significant amount of water entering the bilge area. Not sure I like the short tubes not being installed causing back flow, they are scavenge tubes. Make sure both long siphon tube loops are ziptied high up in the bilge area, this causes a vapor lock in the tubes, if they are not the tubes will back flow.

I agree... It may be a combination of tube height and siphon tubes in the back. I attached 2 photos. One picture (with dirty nose cone) shows the venturi with the siphon tubes. Then when the service shop put on the new venturi (clean nose cone photo) it does not have the siphon tubes. After the service was when it started to leak.
