water control valve is leaking

New Member
96 challenger. I can see water running out the bottom when my motor is running. What exactly does the wcv do and is there an oring in it like the engine raves? Thanks fellas
 
It probably needs a new bellows, most likely the clip rusted and poked a hole in the old one, get a new bellows from minnetonka4me and use a cable tie to replace the clip.

It's used to allow water into the exhaust to keep it cool.

It diverts water from the exhaust at high RPM's to help make power. BUT... you want the water in the exhaust at low RPM to build torque.


It's common for them to fail. There is a clamp in them, and it either rots, or pokes a hole in the diaphragm. Take it apart, ans see what it needs. (it's rebuildable)
