Water control valve differences

Hey all, anyone know if the 96 WCV are the same as the 98+?

Parts list says they are different part numbers. I put either a 1998 or 1999 XPL on my 1996 GTX and it worked. I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do but the performance of the ski improved.

I guess I'll give it a whirl then, the plastic threads are stripped out on mine but I have one from a 96 gsx

I have noticed different springs in some of these but you never know how they got there. LOL Keep your parts.

And to make it more confusing some came with a spacer washer from the factory.

Am I supposed to be able to pull the bellow and needle out? On two of my WCV I can pull on the below and everything will come out but on one I can only remove it after unscrewing the needle. Thoughts?
