Wake Tower

Hey I have a little problem with my wake tower. It appears to have been put on a little crooked which causes it not to come together easily. When I took delivery of the boat they had the tower upright and said they didn't recommend ever lowering it because of the way it lays down across the back of the boat. However, I keep the boat in a garage and the tower needs to come down everyday. The first time I lowered it the driver side popped apart with a lot of force, and when I tried to put it back I could not get the two screws all the way back together by hand.

I've been going through the break-in period and have not had any need for the tower as of yet so the one side not being together has not been an issue, but I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow for the 10hr service and I'm kind of wondering what they can do to fix it. I'm thinking the tower is installed at the dealership and being it was a fairly new dealership the guy just didn't have enough experience with getting it all aligned before he mounted it.

I personally think that the actual front legs need to be squared up and remounted, but I don't want some ugly patch on the top of my new boat. Any idea's on what they might be able to do?

P.S. Other than the tower issue, I love this thing so far:hurray:

My suggestion is to have the dealer look at it, and correct the problem. It is a new jet boat and it should be perfect. I would think the dealer will take care of it when it is in for it's 10 hr check. Make it a point your not happy and you need it to work like it was intended to. Keep us posted on the outcome.

I agree with Karl, that is sub standard work and the most important important thing with fitting a tower is to make sure it all lines up straight.
This should definantly be rectified by the dealer, but it will have to be refitted which means some type of patching being done to your boat, Not Good:(

Patching not good

:agree: I agree with guns and karl, that is probably why they delivered it like that and asked you not to put it down, I'm sure they knew what the problem was and that to rectify the situation was going to be a problem. I hate to talk like that, but with what you presented that seems to be the case to me. Bummer..........:(

I wouldn't fret it...it is a warranty issue and should be addressed like that, regardless of who put it together. If the dealer doesn't give you results call seadoo direct and complain...I have a feeling the dealer will resolve the problem and move on.

The dealer called me today and said that they called seadoo and are in the process of coming up with a permanent solution. The guy told me that the mounts are factory installed and evidently a lot of challengers are having the same issues with the tower. He said I could call seadoo customer service and raise hell and they would probably give me a longer warranty or something for the inconvenience. They said they would call me whenever they hear back about it. I have no idea when that could be. I guess I'm going to go pick it back up tomorrow.

Factory installed and done wrong, I'm sure they will make good on it, it just seems like it may take a while. I would call Sea Doo anyway and see what they say, not to raise hell, but to find out for yourself what is being done to rectify the situation.

:agree: I would call as a concerned owner and be sweet as pie to see what they will do resolve your problem. If you call with an attitude you'll get a real slow response. How's that saying go...you catch more bee's with honey than with vinagar...or something like that. Remember to praise the quality of the seadoo product and how your dissapointed at this problem.

towers

How much does a tower like that cost? It sounds fishy to me... Since you've only had it for a short while, can't you take it it and say that since they messed it up that they should fix it? I didn't get a tower because I didn't want the headaches associated with it (or pay the extra insurance premium that came along with a new tower). If all else fails, try small claims court, lol.

The factory wake tower for the Challenger 180 seems to be in factory recall at this moment. The part number has changed.
That´s the reply from seadoo, because I want to fit that tower in my boat and I´m still waiting. They say that in a few months wil be solved.
Is there any official installation instructions for this tower provided by BRP ?

Thanks,

they said a "few months" almost a year ago. my boat is at the dealership now because i told them i wasn't picking it back up (or paying for the winter oil change) until the tower is fixed... still waiting...:bs:
