Does anyone know if any kind of after market box has been made to replace the VTS box that goes bad on the older model Seadoos, or do I have to buy the replacement box at $200+?

Sharie, there is no after market box for the seadoo that I know of. The VTS box is expensive but your problem could also be the motor. Make sure you know whats bad so you don't drop that kind of cash if you buy a new one. If you wanna go the used route try ebay.

When I first bought my ski I my VTS did not work. I changed all the electrical connections on the motor due to corrosion and took the motor apart and was able to free it up and now it works like new. Go through the system if you feel comfortable doing so and you might be suprised that it just needs some TLC. The round cover on the motor is held on with crimps I was able to work those loose and re-crimp when done. Good luck.
