video cam mount ideas for SeaDoo

Was thinking of getting a GoPro ( or cheaper brand if someone can recommend one).

I Have a 2013 GTI 130SE. Any mounting ideas without having to drill holes or modify my machine ?

I am not into professional video making, just for fun...so has anybody bad decent results from one of the less expensive brands of waterproof video cams ?

Buy a RAM mount system. Nothing like them. Very universal. Buy the base for the ski and permanently mount it. Then buy a mount for your bike or whatever. Metal built. Fantastic product.

I was able to get the Sony HDR at a sony outlet that was closing. Got it for $60, and I am anxious to use it. It got good reviews against the go pro. I am not sure where to mount it yet but I have the exact same ski as you...just got that this year as a left over! How do you like the ski? I will mostly be in the Delaware Bay so slight chop.

waterproof case

hi I use a flip camcorder I have two one for front and one for rear. the one on the rear I made a bracket to go between the rear ski hook and the rope (this way as ringo or skier goes out of the wake then the camera follows) the front one I have a bulldog type clip to attatch to front of ski and made a fitting to screw camera onto clip.
both work a treat and were cheap to make(and just clip off when not in use)

hope this helps cheers fred
p.s. both are inserted into waterproof cases (made especialy for flip camcorders) so the don't get water damaged

I hear that the GoPro doesn't have a rear screen to view what you are recording. Anybody have opinions on GoPro or other options ?

I have used a gopro hero 3 and the suction cup mount for a few years now with great results. Sticks to away anything and is strong enugh to use as a grab handle to climb back on board if you find yourself in the drink. Are there cameras that may be better in some aspects? Yes without a doubt but none are as user friendly. The Gopro does not come with a screen but you can buy an LCD backpack if your really must have one. Also the gopro app lets you preview everything the camera sees on the bluetooth models. It can also be controlled from the app so you can mount it somewhere out of reach and not have to run it all the time.

Thanks it gets better and better the more u use the gopro wouldnt be without it, thinking about getting 1 more to get more angles :-)

My body have that too very bad quality it cannot set the iso right so Either you have a very Bright video or very Dark it cannot auto correct it good- buy a gopro - Price and quality Wales hand in hand with these products

Doesn't look to be water resistant. ..

By itself it is not, comes with a waterproof case and a few attachment components (suction cup, helmet mount and a 3m type adhesive base mount. I agree it is no GoPro and I doubt I would want to use it in low light conditions. I do expect it to be not near the quality of GoPro but from the videos I shot with it while driving my car, for taping my kids tubing, boarding and skiing, fit my budget exactly and still being full HD quality..

Are you referring to the suction cup mount? I'm just finding it hard to believe that suction cup would be able to hold on in rough conditions when the ski is bouncing all over the place. I've wanted a GoPro for a while now but only really to use on my ski and I had yet to find a mount I thought would withstand such abuse. And since i have no desire to drill mounting holes in my ski, I thought I might be out of options.

Many do use just the suction cup mount and love it. I am not that brave,,, I bought a flat base that has a ball on it. I permanently mounted the flat base to my ski and I use the RAM mount with the large wing nut style clamp. It works fantastic as it simply clamps onto the ball. In this case, it has a single wing nut and accepts a ball at each end. So one end on the ski (to the mount with the ball) and the other to the GoPro bracket made by ram which is also a ball grabbing system. You can pivot this in any direction and it si super strong and safe.

Now when you say "permanently mounted" do you mean you used adhesive or you actually drilled holes? And where exactly did you mount it on the ski?

I drilled holes. I put a thin piece of rubber under it, use stainless hardware and flat and locking washer underneath. I put some permatex on the studs to hold the nuts from backing off.

They are in storage right now so I can't take a picture. But I think I have a spare mount here somewhere that I can take a picture of it.

Ok. Found it all online. Here is what I have. Here is the camera with the ball mount.

And here it is complete.

I also bought the "U-brackets" for my bike. I loosen the thumb screw and take it to my bike. I then bought the upper mounts for my GPS which works perfectly with the stuff for my GoPro.

Repairing and selling iPads, iPhones and Mini iPads.

Ok nice. Now where exactly did you mount this on your ski? Sorry for the 20 questions, I've just never actually seen a GoPro mounted on a Sea Doo before.

Hey I was just curious about the suction cup mount you said you've been using. Does it really hold on under severely rough conditions? And if so where exactly are you mounting it on your ski?

Severely rough conditions? Not sure what you consider severe but it's strong enough to use as a grab handle when re boarding the ski from deep water. I mount it usually on the cowl just behind the gauges or off to the side by the mirrors. Sometimes on the back just below the tow hook.

I understand what you're saying about being able to use it as a grab handle for reboarding, but the force and pressure being applied while reboarding is a little different than when you're bouncing over closely spaced swells at 50 mph. I mean I have a Garmin for my car that's locking suction cup will fall off my windshield if I hit a mild pothole. I guess this is where my skepticism is coming from.
