Hi all,

First time poster, longer time lurker...

Back-story - both engines were partially submerged a week prior to this happening and water was in the cylinders. They were emptied of water, new spark plugs and battery installed and the boat seemed to be working fine on at least 3 occasions over the week prior.

Fast forward to Saturday - again the boat was working fine, I left the boat at our dock (very shallow and sandy) for a couple of hours and when I took it out again the starboard engine was having issues; when trying to accelerate the engine (and whole boat) vibrates and is very loud.

Is this is a residual problem from the water in the engine or could sand or other lake debris being sucked up be causing this? What steps should I take to check?

Thanks for any input!

Mat

If the engines have been running OK... then it's not an issue from the water. Generally, an "After" issues leave you with a blown engine.

But... as above... I think you sucked something into the pump. The turbulent water will case bad vibration, and loss of thrust.

Since you say you docked in shallow waters I suspect you sucked up seaweed or something in the impeller. You should never run the engines in shallow waters, sand / small stones will ruin your wear ring. Push the boat out before starting it next time.

OP here, turns out there was a 2 inch chunk of wood wedged between the impeller and the housing. Luckily the impeller was not damaged and once I managed to get it out the boat works perfectly.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
