I've been having trouble with the VTS system in my 97 GSX, and since I couldn't find any VTS discussions here, I went searching elsewhere and found this very good article on the VTS system in our seadoo pwc's.

It has a very good troubleshooting section which has many more tests to do on the VTS module box than the one test the manual shows. This guy actually somehow removed the black stuff that seals the circuit board in and analyzed several bad VTS module circuit boards that were donated to him for that purpose.

It might save someone some money from throwing parts at a problem to fix it.

That thread is WAY beyond the detail I could have ever imagined someone going through the trouble of creating. And it also highlights the complexity of the VTS electronics - especially when you consider that the only electrical/electronics needs of a 2 stroke motor is spark and start.

Unfortunately this level of sophistication comes at a steep price - a complicated troubleshooting problem.:confused:

The HX in contrast has variable trim - but it is a big knob that you cannot adjust without getting into the water and turning by hand. Not convenient - but then I have NEVER heard of someone saying their HX trim doesn't work :biggrinjester:
