Hi all- I’m a female boat owner in Tega Cay, SC and have had “She-Doo”, my 2002 Utopia 185 Sport for a year now. It runs pretty soundly but I have a question about the intake grate. Lake Wylie can have a lot of debris in it at times and twice now something has gotten caught in the intake grate. The bars are about an inch apart and once I was able to dislodge the debris and once it had to go to a mechanic as I couldn’t find it. Eventually this is going to completely strip the wear sleeve (first time caused some damage).
Can anyone share if there is a better grate to use or how to manage boating in a lake that also has periodic debris? The easy answer is don’t go, but sometimes you don’t know til you are out there and the lake has been churned up by storms or mass boaters. Thanks so much!
