just wonderin, my buddies said they would fall off, esp if they spray me lol, i was lookin at those oakley water jackets they look cool and have straps, sooo, i also saw the shades that float, what do u guys wear???

Go cheap on the shades for ridin. First time on my XP right when I bought it, hit a wave behind a boat and I was going bout 45, didn't know how (tipsy the XP's were) slung me off and bye bye oakleys.

I use sun glasses whether or not it is sunny out (depending on the water conditions). If it's rough, like Lake Huron tends to be, I need them to keep the spray out of my eyes. I have a small strap that goes around the back of my head to keep them on. If you don't have a strap, you will lose them.

I wear em to keep the spray out of my eyes. Tried it with out and couldn't see where I was going. I do need to get a strap though.

i know that feeling lost my gascans on sunday :(

For my HX, I use snow ski goggles most of the time. But I find they don't work quite as well in salt water with the open vents on top of the lens. It is usually fine in fresh water.....not as much salt sting.

I would like to invest in SPEX of something made for water where the water intrusion is less of a problem. But man those things can be expensive!

I wear sunglasses for mild riding - like picking some one up from the dock to take to a houseboat. If we are thrashing - like trying to toss each other off the GTX - then I don't even bother wearing sunglasses since they WILL get lost.

But generally speaking, if you don't think you want to lose it, don't bring it on a PWC!

I use whatever sunglasses I have, just keep a couple of the "chums" sunglass toggles with floats, you fall off, they fall off, they float. Usually they land around your neck anyways. I can see anyone splashing around without glasses, the difference is like night to day

Im usually fine without them but they do help. If I get some water in my eyes I just stop, wipe throttle and up I go. I did lose my glasses this saturday on river, had them for some 3 years or so. they costed $7 anyway so I dont care. but guy behind me lost his oakleys, ouch!!!

I never thought about Rain-X that is the best idea I have heard in a while. I use rain-x for my car....but never thought of it for sun glasses!

Works great. During my 1st ride on the XP I just picked up a couple days ago I lost a contact with the 1st massive splash. Put on some sunglass/goggle hybrids, but couldn't see a damn thing after the 1st splash with those on due to huge drops all over. Went to the car and fished some Rain-X out of the trunk to disperse the droplets and was amazed at the results. Highly recommended!

I usually wear my sunglasses when I am riding also. I only buy cheap sunglasses as I always break or lose them anyways so not a big loss if they fall off.

Good idea on the Rain-X.

I was wondering if Rain-X would work on sun glasses. I was worried about it having a negative affect on the lenses. After reading this, I think I may give it a go. :)

Well I don't use it on my more expensive polarized pairs, but for my cheap ones I use with the ski I have seen no issues at all.

Well I ride with a pair of cheap polarized, I think I paid $10 for them and I couldn't loose those fockers even if I tryed. I've been tempted to buy a more expensive pair but I know those would come off the first time I dumped the XP.

BTW no strap, floaters or anything...just the curse of the cheap sunglasses.

I have been riding with my Oakleys since I bought them but it does worry me. I hit a wave and went a flyin but remembered to grab my glasses before skippin across the water. I am going to buy some cheapies and also try the rain-x. With contacts glasses are a must, imo.

SeaSpecs

Anyone tried SeaSpecs? A friend, who rides stand-up skis exclusively, highly recommends them. They are polarized. I don't know if their material would withstand the Rain-X or not. I do use it on all my vehicles and their mirrors, etc.

fyi check out http://www.xtremewearglasses.com/

totally UV protected lenses, THEY FLOAT, and have a head band just in case and they arent that expensive ($55 normally, $35 with the charity code)

and if you enter the charity code 'jeep1', a portion of the purchase will go to the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association)

so some good looking shade, that float, and a donation to help out some great people and kids

i jsut picked up a set of sunglasses at walmart that where inthe motorcylce section.. for 18 bucks u cant go wrong.. work great and with the elastic band they wont fall off..

i've got bad eyes so i have bigger problems. i wear my glasses with a "croakies" strap attached. then i bought a "birdz eyewear" set of goggles (polarized) that go over my glasses. i lost my prescrip glasses in the bay 2 weeks ago, so i needed double protection!! $26 saves my glasses... i look like a tard, but so what. i'm cruisin' baby!!! :)

(sorry, i like to show pictures)

SeaDoo and Sunglasses

We are always interested in what people wear on the water. Having lost way too many expensive pair of sunglasses, we found the absolute greatest pair of floating glasses. They have everything you need for protection and a built in unistrap that fits to your head. We have RXP's and have taken a few unscheduled dips in the water. Only once, without securing the strap on the glasses and when I surfaced, they were floating. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

See what you think.
Hubby and I are new to this forum and are learning our way around. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Pat
Oh yeah, almost forgot. If you decide you want to purchase, you can use that Jeep 1 Code that Chris is talking about. You will get your glasses at a $20.00 discount and the club and charity do make money. Beats losing those expensive Oakley Jackets and the contributions are for a good cause.

I have done extensive reaseach on this subject and have found cheap sunglasses will sink just as fast as expensive ones. Prescription glasses sink the fastest!:banghead::banghead::banghead:
