My battery (cheap Walmart battery from previous owner) in my 2003 seadoo utopia 205 is failing to hold a charge. It’ll run great for 20 minutes then I get a constant beeping alarm. The alarm comes and goes and when I went to restart the boat it was completely dead. I verified that it was not in fact overheating with it temp gun block was only 130deg at 4000rpm. I’m gonna start with the battery. Is an agm ok to use in this boat?

Is your battery failing to hold a charge or is your charging system failing to charge?

Try charging your battery from AC line charger.
Are your voltage regulators getting hot? Warm is ok. If hot, battery is suspect.

I have had batteries last between 3 weeks and 5 years. None were AGM. AGM should be ok, but a lot of $.

Thanks for the info! I believe the regulator is all included in the alternator as one whole unit. I’m yet to test the alternator. I do know the battery was at 100% when I launched. After 20 minutes of running and another hour anchored with battery switch off it was dead. It started up fine when I pulled anchor, the alarm went off constantly while idling, I shut it down and it was dead when I tried starting again.
