Up until this year, I have always had my dealer change my oil and what not.

I have a 2009 RXT-X 255 SC and a 2010 GTX 155. The manual states (if I recall correctly) that you can NOT use synthetic oil in the SC skis due to the SC'r. My dealer, (again, if I recall correctly) uses semi-synthetic in both of my skis and showed me a document from BRP stating it was ok to do so.

So,,, what oil are you using assuming I am correct about the one oil being good for both. I don't care about the cost, not looking for a cheap second rate product. Just want to use the right product...

I do this. I order the seadoo maintenance kit for 4 strokes. it includes oil, filter ,caskets ,and plugs. The oil is seadoo semi-synthetic. usually around $70

Sounds good,, I have seen these kits, thanks for the reminder...

Semi-synthetic BRP in everything is what all dealers are now using. You could use full synthetic in the non sc but I would continue to use what the dealer has used in the past. Remember, you only get about 3 qts changed at an oil change and it is a 4.8 qt system so plenty left behind each time.

It's kind of strange but I have read that when you change oil on a 4 tec after you suck all the oil out with vacuum pump that you pull the throttle all the way in and crank engine at the same time for a second to get all the oil out . It seemed kind of scary but it worked .

I do recall reading that as well. I have the shop manual, will go through the process to be sure.. Thanks..

Since we are talking about oil changes how often do you change the oil on your skis? Are you supposed to do it every regardless of how many hours .

when you buy the kit it comes with instructions. Yes remember pull the tube out pull the throttle in all the way ,drown mode crank over and repeat. I do a oil change when I put the ski away for season.

I normally change mine every season no matter the hours I get on the oil. Main reason I do it is because that is what I have always done and I have never had any repair needed. I had a set of polaris skis for 11 years and I had to change the spark plugs twice,,, So for me, it is because it works.. LOL

Also, in salt water I'd rather change the oil at the end of the season and get any contaminants out rather than let them sit there in the off season..
