Just curious, has any one ever attempted converting a 1997-2000 challenger 1800 to twin 951's? I bet the boat would fly since those have a lot moe power. Any one put pipes on the twin 787's? Just looking to get the boat up in the 60 mph range but still have good power for towing.

That would be a lot of money. The 951's arn't as reliable as the engines you have now in your boat. For that amount of money and time just buy a newer one.

I agree with the above. The 800 engines are more reliable, and have a longer life. To swap in 951's... it would be expensive, and you are only looking at a 50 hp gain. (total) So... it's not "A lot more power" as you say. Also... the 951 engines generally used a larger pump. So... unless you want to put in the larger pumps (that means hull mods) you won't gain much since they have the same upper RPM's

The money spent, for the power gained is NO WHERE near equal.

Sell your boat, and buy one with bigger engines if you want to go fast. In the long run... it will be cheaper.
