I have a 1995 speedster with the 657x engines im sorry but just realized something about your question
my engines have the fuel pumps on one carb on each engine and when I rebuilt the carbs the rebuild kits comes with the pump rebuild stuff

so you say you had carbs rebuilt that should have already did the pumps right
or you may have separated pumps on your boat sorry mines a 1995 it may be different

I will try and find out, just hope im not paying my mechanic for work he isn't doing

Get the new pumps installed and try it out. I think you will see a difference.

After you run it for a bit, pull the plugs and see if they are chocolate brown.
