Trying to reattach the vts lid and the starter solenoid lid..

First post but long time listener so to speak.
Having a hell of a time(honestly cannot even get close to putting the vts lid w gasket to snap on as well as the starter box lid w gasket....have tried heating up gasket ... pushing the gasket in as far as humanly possible tried alot of things but just cannot even come close to those latching .....what's the best way to go about this.....a lil silicone n tie straps or not a good ideah.only thing keeping me from the water.....thanks in advance

Silicone grease on the gasket.

Put the gasket on the vts housing not the cover.a little grease around the gasket.dont put it on the cover then try and put it on.it will never go on

Poorman has it correct!,,,gasket/“O” on the fixture, cover on the lubricated “O” ring.
