Troubleshooting Tach

Hi All,

I am having trouble with one of my tachometers that I am hoping someone can help me with.

The problem is that lately the tach only seems to work when RPMs exceed 5000. The needle will remain at zero until 5000 and then pop up to 5000 and then function correctly up to full RPM. From time to time it does work correctly through the full RPM range but that is happening less and less. Is the tach going bad or perhaps is it something more nefarious? Any ideas of how to troubleshoot?

switch it with the other motor at the computer..

Sounds like a bad tach to me. :cheers:

I swapped the malfunctioning tach with the good one and the good one works fine. So it looks like the one tach is bad.
