Trim gauge wiring what wires go where

ok so i got this is what i'm dealing with right now i have a 96 xp and i've found out that my trim gauge is wired backwards i have the black A's and purple B's wires connected to each other the and the brown wires running to the gauge from the trim box. if any one that owns an xp that can check to see how they have their trim gauge plugged in please let my know or a personal message me.

Trim gage?....

I'm not sure of what your asking. You say the trim gage. Are you talking about the VTS gage or the up/down switch.

If our talking about the VTS gage, you should not have the two purple wires connected to each other.

On the VTS, you have one purple coming from the MPEM plug #1, wire #14 and black ground #13. This is your main power supply. Then you have 2 communication wires. The BW/WH and BW/BK wires (for trim position), also from plug #1, wires #5 and 6.

From the VTS, you have two outlet power wires, purple and black, that cascade the power from the VTS to the speedo.:cheers:

Does the up button make the trim go up? I ask this because I once replaced a trim motor and the new one was wired backwards. Press up and the trim and gauge would go down & vise-versa.

The tirm in the rear vts box goes up and down but the gauge on the insterment colum doesn't move so i bought a owners manual and of course it doesn't have an wiring diragram. i have the two brown wires that plug into the brown wires comming out of the trim gauge and the purple and black wires connect with the purple and black off the gauge (in other words it just makes a big loop) Is that correct?

Ok so i wanna make sure i got this correctly the Brown with white and brown and black go to brown with white and black wire for gauge position. The purple and black wire comming out of the MPEM get plugged in to the black and purple on the gauge and the other set of purple and black wires runs from the trim gauge purple and black wires or the speedometer. I'm just making sure that is correct i don't want to screw up this gauge.
