Does anyone know if Trigger Coils are universal? I don't see any used ones for a 97 GTX, but there are a few newer models on ebay that I thought about trying.

The newest replacement part runs between 90-120 dollars.

If it's from a 787 engine it should work. Do yourself a favor and get one from Nick Minnetonka4me, he'll treat you right and you will know it will work. Or if you want a new one order from this site. I didn't look it up but 420966832 sounds like a part number from a 4-tec ski.

I'm installing the trigger coil now and just want to confirm wiring. The black/yellow wire is on top and the solid yellow is just below that. I don't see anything in the shop manual, just wanted to confirm the existing wiring is correct.

97 GTX FYI...

I have a picture from a 96 787 hope this helps.

That's how mine is wired, thanks for the confirmation. Crossing my fingers the trigger coil does the trick, I checked the crank and it seems to be fine. After the trigger coil, I'm down to Rotary Valve and MPEM as my last options to check.
