Transom Hooks

Why do you say that. It seems to work for him.

I'm not going to buy them as i don't need it, but just curious on your opinion.

You can get tie downs at harbor freight that do the exact same thing, even bungie cords. Besides these things will tear the rub rails right off. You would be better off putting a couple of stainless steel eye hooks in, or even a boarding step.

Info commercial crap you see on TV seems to work too.

Lou

OK,Thanks.
From what I've seen these are coated with rubber, similar to tire inner tubes type material. or maybe plastic dipped, not sure.

Excuse me for having an opinion. I don't think I would be foolish enough to take a SeaDoo into 10' swells.

This is a perfect example of using a PWC for something it wasn't designed to do. That's what they make boats for. I'm done.

Lou

well the promo video seems to indicate that they work on a motionless ski sitting on a trailer anyway. Plus they are laser cut and there is Star Wars music so how can there be any doubt!!! I'm going to get a set for my speargun.

Post a link to a video of those 10' swells. That's got to be some cool stuff !

Lou, At the end of the video is my ski with the gas tank on the transom. Gas weighs about 7lbs per gallon and that tank holds 12 so it weighs 60+ lbs and there can be considerable sloshing about. We often ride 100+ miles so extra fuel is a necessity and I have seen well built tank racks fall off and even eject 5 gallon gas cans. We ride long and hard in both heavy seas as well as high speed curvy types of runs and have tried everything to secure tanks, coolers and combinations. I got these and as you can see in the video turnbuckles secure the tank and it performs like it was a part of the ski. Believe me I tried everything before and only these worked. They don't mess up the rub rails or transom lip because they are cut and bent precisely to fit the ski (he has different cuts for different skis). The wider hook with rubber has a larger surface area that distributes the tension over a wider surface area and doesn't slip or come lose. To each his own but these were well worth the cost and I could not find another solution for my application.

Thanks for your answer you sound like a reasonable person. I appreciate the explanation. I personally would have no use for the transom hooks, I ride in a small lake, end to end 35 miles. I also ride small skis, 96XP and a 96GSX, and also have a boat.

I do have a question, what keeps the transom hooks from falling off? I see you use turnbuckles on your application but it looks to me the standard installation doesn't have these.

It's been a pleasure talking to someone who doesn't have to resort to name calling and personal attacks to make a point. Maybe the inventor who I suspect is JJ should figure out how to talk to people if the expects to sell his product.

In my case the open hook of the turnbuckle goes through the hole. Later on I replaced that by using turnbuckles with closed eyes. Opened them enough to put the hook on and then closed them again. If using a bungie type then I'd just put the bungies hook through and bend the hook closed. I hate bungies and straps though. They are constantly shifting and getting loose.

Yea...If you don't ride much but lakes on small skis then you aren't going to attach anything anyway. But if you did this is a great solution because it is simple, durable being all stainless and it just plain works perfectly.

JJ, I was unaware that you could insult an inanimate object, but if I have offended "transom hooks" I do apologize. I will also apologize for posting on "your" thread, I was always under the impression that this was an open forum and anyone could post on any thread.

I would suggest in the future that if you are going to promote a product you do so under the "buy, sell, trade" section of this forum. Or better yet become a site sponsor.

My opinion hasn't changed, I still think you could accomplish the same thing by mounting a couple of stainless steel hook eyes up under the platform and through the transom.

You can respond to this if you want, I will not see it because you are the first and only person that I have put on my ignore list.

Vince,
Am I misunderstanding or is the rub rail providing the primary resistance to the turnbuckle? Is that not a pretty weak point of potential failure?

LOU YOU JERK YOU HURT THAT TRANSOM HOOKS FEELINGS!!!!!!......... I dont know if this is only myself who thinks this but i wouldnt expect any less from guys who ride a jetski in SUBZERO waters.......Now everyone get along and stop fighting this is NOONES thread it the forums posting space and everyone has their opinion so why bother arguing

:boxing_smiley: Brock, you're next, I'm going to insult your Jeep. That's a great looking Jeep, what year is it? I had a 95 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 383, passed everything but a gas station. I loved that Jeep I traded it in during the Obama Sale O'Rama for a Jeep Compass. I've had Jeeps all my adult life.

Never mind, I just read in your profile it's a 2004.

ya'll better be careful Brock. Ever since Lou beat up BettyJoe Hatfield in the first grade, he got that reputation of bein a real scrapper and nobody has ever messed with him since.

To the guys that do the hooks.!!!! Get in contact with. The Variety Club of Queensland.Easy site to find.Every year, they do a run up or down the coast of Queensland Australia,in the ocean. This is to raise money for childrens Charities.Variety Club started in the USA and they raise HUGE amounts of money for the needy kids. These runs are over many hundreds of miles for about a week.If the hooks survive that, they will survive anything. These runs are on skis.NOT boats. Many brands, many models. If they work well,it will be the best advertising you will ever have.If they dont,??????

TRANSOM HOOKS, for the true JET LIFE enthusiast....

I do like this photo as it shows the perfect design of the hooks. So that when you unstrap your item, and the transom hook falls off and sinks to the bottom of the lake, you can just hook the strap to the same rub rail, as it looks to be almost exactly the same width of hook. It's perfect.

Don't let anyone stifle your imagination and motivation to come up with a better mouse trap. The consumer will decide once you put it on the market. Good luck with your project.

OK guys... I just looked here, and let's play nice. With that said.........

JetSki Junnkies: You are the one out of line. This is a forum... and anyone with an opinion can make a post. Lou's original post stands. He did not call you, the company, or the product any names. He simply stated his opinion. You came back and attached him personally. Also... Lou is a respected member here, so he will have the benefit of the doubt. You on the other hand, have 60 posts to your name, and I can't remember the last time I've seen a "Helpful" post from you.

Now... as for my opinion... they may be useful, but they are of a bad design. The main problem is... there is no outward support. SO... (in the case of the cooler being mounted) if one of them would slip inward... you would loose the tension on the strap... and the cooler would go by-by.

Finally, before you come back, and run your mouth (so to speak) at me... you would be wise to check the badge under my screen name. Accounts can be banned and/or removed... and I will be dammed if I let this board turn into some the others. Not to mention... this is no way to defend your company. (or one that you are associated with, in some way) Being negative to potential customers, in a public forum, makes YOU look like the bad guy. The proper way to have handled it would be to put it back into Lou's lap. You can have said... "Thanks for the input, but why do you think they are useless??" This would have forced Lou to defend his opinion... also, you could have been polite, and maintained a professional position.

I own a small manufacturing company, and I do a lot of Biz Via group buys, and word of mouth, on chat boards. There is a lot of money to be had. But, if you get a bad rep here... right or wrong... no one will be buying.

With that, you may also want to apologize to our senior members.
