Good day everyone,

i am looking at installing my Humminbrid 688DI, and was unsure as tot he best location to place it. This is my first boat, and i have yet to take it on the water, so i am going to rely on you guys.

I see the factory speed sensor, and thought beside that would be best, however the lines of the boat, are pretty steep there.

Can anyone shoot me a pic of where theirs is located? Just for reference points, to ensure it is sitting properly in the water without current issues from the jet?

Thanks everyone!

Different boat but here is mine, just make sure you get the correct mounting angle to get a good reading.

You use a slow cure epoxy so you don't get air bubbles HOWEVER since the SeaDoo's are double walled I read that it can cause false readings. I decided not to bother with the glue.

Hello,
Sry for the late reply, I was somehow too busy during the last days.
I used a two component epoxy which is called “UHU plus Schnellfest”. When you mix it (ratio 1:1) you have to take care that you’re not creating small air-bubbles. Mix a sufficient quantity and fill it at the correct place and then stick your sensor slowly into the glue. Move it slightly to all directions to be sure not having any air-bubble underneath the transducer.
Underneath the hull there is a kind of a stringer (in the last third of the hull direction stern) which is flat. This is exactly the position where I have installed the transducer.
It works fine when I’m driving, depth reads correct and even the fish-finder is working properly. I’m using the transducer which was provided with the LOWRANCE Elite 4.
I have it installed since two seasons already without any issue until today. Only the temperature isn’t correct, even with using the correction function (range isn't enough since it’s measuring through the hull). But I can check the water temperature with my toe and this works also
.
