I have what I think is the original winch on a Shorelander Trailer, which I think was the trailer package for the 98 model boats, at least on some? I'm told mine is all original. The winch is a DI1400, which is rated at 1400 pounds. The dry weight on the boat is 1870 pounds per manual. I'm trying to figure out if indeed this is the original winch or if the previous owner changed it out. If someone with a Sportster or Challenger, etc, will please look at their factory winch to see if it is of the same size I would greatly appreciate it. If the manu sold it as a package I'm ok with it. But if not, I would not want to have an underated winch securing a boat on the road. That being said the manufacturer could have figured in for the tow straps on the back taking part of the load for DOT regulations. I'm ok with the operation of the winch otherwise, though I did have to clean it up and change the broken spring. Thanks guys and gals
