I know this thread should be somewhere else, I just wanted Ya`lls opinion.
I received this and open the box to discover the fascia piece broken. The vendor price matched the winch bc I found it cheaper on Amazon, and did a lot of sales in the past with Etrailer. Etrailer is offering a 10 discount applied refund if I choose to keep it...

I`m kinda pissed bc the winch even with discounted pricing is expensive to begin with for what it is...

I`d imagine it would cost them more to return ship this and send me another , don`t ya think...

would ya keep it for 10 bux off the price???

Ill ask that this thread be deleted in a day or to, Thanks Admins...

Maybe it's just me and I'm kinda anal about my toys, I would definitely send it back.

Lou

Do yourself a favor and call the MFG. See if they'll send out the trim piece for free, and take the discount. Win-win!

Thats a fancy winch you got there. Send it back or do as racer suggested, if you dont you will be pissed every time you look at it when you walk past. Fancy, new and broken looks worse then old but not broken IMO.

yeah im anal....id call the MFG first and tell them. See if they will just ship that trim piece out. If so, then id take it and the $10 discount. Otherwise id tell etrailer where to stick there 10 bucks.

Knowing how you are with your stuff, you will never be happy until it is perfect. All this boating and jet ski stuff is about doing what makes you happy...so send it back and make 'em fix it right.

Was that a little too philosophical? :D

Boy, I thought I bought a good Fulton winch on Monday, until I saw that one. My elcheapo broke on Sunday.

All great reply`s! Thanks for the support... true, I was going to clean it up and use some kind of epoxy on it, then thought wait a minute, I`m already fixing this "new winch" no way, it`s going back on their dime..
I hemmed and hawed on this particular winch bc I got tired of trying and going thru other over the years. Dutton L winches are no bargain either.

I do like the way the F2 is enclosed, came with a strap and has a rotating know that engages and disengages the winch... it is pretty nicely built, but it also came at a price to...

ok, thanks fella`s...

I didnt realize that was an F2. The F2 series is worth every penny. I have the F2 trailer jack and it is by far the best trailer jack ive ever seen. I actually bought it for the last boat but when I sold it part of the deal was to take it off to put it on the trailer for the new boat.

As long as it's all on their dime, that's cool.

The enclosure will make a nice hiding place for a bee's nest. They love my two enclosed clothes lines, and they get used 3 times a week during the season and they still build in the. Bee careful, lol.

hahahah, more like a hiding place for the Palmetto bugs down here, yikes!!!

I chose this 2k winch for the ratio/pull... since it is a bunk trailer and tough as balls when the ramp is steep...

My winch will last a lifetime. I've never had it out more than 2 feet, and that might be pushing it. Post some pics when you get the new one on and cherried up.

I have a 1600# Dutton laison on there now that is 1 1/2 years old. the ramp here is steep. I only need the last 2 feet as well.
The original winch was shot, the DL winch is oblonging the winch handle mounting hole. I feel that the ratio is just wrong. I was also told that the ratings are different from a roller trailer to bunk type trailer when selecting winches... Hopefully this is the last winch for this trailer...

I have to make the trailer purdy before she goes on, so it will be a while. I`ll post up when it`s done!

just an update* the new one arrived to day, and it is a beauty!

will be a while until it`s mounted... trailer finish rehab is in order...
