Mine is in storage, so im not sure. I know loaded with the tower, gear and audio system i installed mine is at like 2950 lbs. I can still easily move it around by hand though and pick it up at the tongue.

Don't quote me on this, but somewhere I read where as a general rule of thumb, tongue weight is usually designed at about 8-10% of the total weight....((But then, I'm an old guy, memory is ONE of the first things to go)) ;-)

10% is the correct number.

But, you also have to pay attention to other things such as the maximum tongue weight the vehicle Should have.

A 2000 pound trailer should have 200 pound tongue weight.

Once a vehicle gets 200 pounds they tend to ride harsh. I moved my axle so that my tongue is at 90 pounds. Twin 4-tech skis and a front hear box.

Rides like a dream and it is enough so that the tongue does not bounce going down the road.

That is the key. Enough to keep the tongue down but not so light to allow it to bounce.

Great point, too little tongue weight and the trailer will tend to waggle and sway at highway speeds....Great way to lose it into the ditch!
