Trailer Hooks

I'm new to PWCs. The trailer that came with my skis has these straps that go from the trailer hook to the front end tow hook. instead of connecting directly to the ski. They are failing and I need new ones. I thought I would ask if using the straps is pretty normal for everyone or if this is an odd setup. Should I just connect directly to the hook? I'm guessing he straps prevent any direct metal damage, but I have no basis for that.

Many hooks will not fit in the bow eye. And if they do, they damage the hull. You can get a new winch strap with the extension loop cheap. Simply replace them.

I don't know this for sure, by my new move II trailer has those extension loops. I personally wouldn't use them to hook a ski too, they look to be more for traveling without a ski you can loop them around the wheel back to the hook to keep them secure, they are made of material a lot weaker than the actual strap. if you can hook the strap hook directly to the Ski that is what I would do. If you can't then I would either use a short cable or good strap with looped ends to do what you are currently doing, or get a new strap with a smaller hook that will fit
